As a clinical hypnotherapist I can help you with a range of behavioural, emotional, smoking, addiction, habits, anxiety or depression problems.
What is the discipline of clinical hypnotherapy and why do we offer those services?
Hypnosis is practiced in many settings including education, business training, entertainment, dentistry, psychology, psychiatry and in medical settings.
Clinical hypnotherapists are specifically trained in behavioural change. Training may last from a few years to several years depending on the level of qualifications.
Also, clinical hypnotherapists belong to specific professional associations in Australia where they must meet professional standards, undergo annual continual professional education and regular clinical supervision.
You can generally get some health fund rebates from seeing a clinical hypnotherapist if you are on the right cover of your health fund policy. That’s not all health funds but quite a few.
While psychologists and psychiatrists may have some hypnosis training it is not generally as high as clinical hypnotherapists.
There are some psychologists, psychiatrist, nurses, counsellors and social workers who are also clinical hypnotherapists and belong to the appropriate hypnotherapy associations.

Dr O’Keefe teaching clinical Hypnotherapists
Often you come to clinical hypnotherapy when all other avenues have failed.
We can sometimes be people’s last port of call. You may have had endless counselling or spent years talking to therapists but you still have your problems.
This is because you may be talking the problems to death but not enough energy has been spent on creating your solutions, which is really why you went into therapy in the first place.
Your problems will be deep-seated in your unconscious mind so consciously discussing them again and again will not produce results.
Your unconscious mind knows more than your conscious mind
Hypnotherapy talks to the unconscious
Hypnosis bypasses conscious resistance to create change
Your unconscious is able to change FAST what your conscious mind cannot
Since 1970 our health clubs and clinics have offered hypnosis. As a doctor of clinical hypnotherapy, I’ve helped tens of thousands of people change their lives when nothing else could. It’s what we do every week in our clinic.

Dr Tracie O’Keefe with the President of the Australian Hypnotherapy Association at the World Hypnotherapy Conference
Hypnotherapy is a really comfortable and relaxing experience where you are guided by the hypnotherapist towards solving your problems.
Professionally I always think it should be a good experience where we work together towards your goals.
A full history is taken at the beginning of the first session and we start work straight way. The treatment is tailored towards your particular needs. We set your target goals and tick them off one by one.
At end of treatment patients regularly tell me what a good time they had, which is exactly how therapy is meant to be – positive, constructive and rewarding.
