You are looking for help with counselling.
I started in counselling groups back at college in 1970, trained for many years, have seen tens of thousands of clients and am a PACFA-registered mental health professional.
Sometimes in life things do not seem to be going well. It happens to all of us because we are all human and go through difficult times.
You may not be able to talk things through with a relative, friend, fellow student, teacher or work colleague because you believe your issues are too personal. The issues even may involve them or you simply want to be private.
Talking therapy
It can really help to sit and talk your problems through with a professional counsellor. We are an independent, non-judgmental, third party who can give you an external perspective.
Often just the act of talking out loud with someone in private can help you because you get to say and think things through, maybe more clearly for the first time.
When you keep things bottled up inside, going around and around again and again, you feel you are locked into your problems.
We are trained to listen intensely to what you are saying and in a positive way feed that back to you so you might gain a different perspective.
What may have seemed such an enormous, overwhelming situation to you might be more manageable, once you have had the chance to discuss it.
You might even be too embarrassed to discuss these issues with your family doctor. That’s OK – you don’t need a referral to come and see us.
And everything you discuss is also strictly private and covered by the legal clause of confidentiality, so we do not share it with anyone without your prior written permission.
You can come into counselling if you are over 16 years old and we do not have to share your session with you parents. You are entitled to privacy, even if they are paying.
The suggestions that I might make to you in counselling can help you move forward towards resolving your situation.
The style of work we do is very much about helping you get to solutions rather than just keep talking about the problems.
What some past clients have said
Rita: “Thank you Dr Tracie. You were so kind and understanding. I thought I was in an impossible situation but you helped me see ways to go forward and be happy again.”
Barry: “I was so embarrassed coming into counselling. I was afraid you might think me weak and silly but it seems I’m neither and have the power to help myself now. Had a really good time.”
Allen: “Not what I expected, which was to be upset and depressed. I never expected to be laughing in counselling. I had a really good time and your suggestions were brilliant and helped enormously.”
Again, I’m going to say to you that I work in a positive way to help you feel good about yourself and confident in your ability to handle your life situations. I help you find the best in yourself.
