Have you suffered a sexual assault?
Was the assault recent or a long time ago?
Has that assault caused you to suffer psychological disturbances?
Does this experience constantly disturb you emotionally or do you have recurring trauma?
Do you need professional hypnotherapy to help you move past that trauma?
I have been involved in helping people overcome sexual assault for over four decades.
As well as being a clinical hypnotherapist, I am also a psychotherapist (Member of the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) College of Psychotherapy) and sex therapist and educator (Member of the Australian Society of Sex Educators, Researchers and Therapists (ASSERT, NSW), and PACFA-registered mental health professional.
I also specialise in helping people overcome trauma fast using hypnosis (Member of the Australian Hypnotherapists Association).
Did you now many people – female, male or sex and/or gender diverse – suffer sexual assault?
This can happen to you as an adult or in childhood including rape, date rape, inappropriate sexual contact, incest, ravishment, non-consensual or coerced exposure to pornography, co-erced sexual encounters, sexual harassment or being a witness to sexual assault.
The definition of sexual assault can be clarified as experiencing a sexual encounter without your permission or when you are incapable of making a rational informed decision.
• The trauma experienced from the assault can be immediate or it can progressively destabilise your sense of wellbeing hours, months or even years later.
• You may suffer the immediate effects or you may try to bury the memories, sometimes telling no one, and then decades later those memories flood back into your conscious mind uncontrollably and unexpectedly as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
• You may experience a false sense of guilt about what happened and have suicidal thoughts and panic attacks, anxiety and depression.
• In more serious cases you may have developed a dissociation disorder or borderline personality disorder due to the trauma.
In therapy it is important to be able to come to terms with what has happened and be able to move forward with your life in a positive, constructive and rewarding way.
