As a porn addiction hypnotherapy specialist and sexologist I help with treatment to stop that habit in my clinic.
Internet pornography addiction is a problem that effects millions of men and sometimes women. Endless hours at the screen or on your phone.
Hypnosis can help you stop porn fast. Health funds may apply.
As a sex therapist (ASSERT, NSW) hypnotherapist (AHA) and addiction specialist in many areas this is my field.
I have worked in sexology for five decades in my clinics and help many people quit porn, sexting and sex messaging.
Am I’m addicted to porn?
Are you obsessed with pornography?
Do you feel your addiction to porn is out of control?
You just can’t stop downloading and watch the same things over and over again?
Looking for professional help to bring your life back in balance?
An addiction to pornography, known as porn addiction, with the advent of the internet has now become a world-wide problem.
The increase of pornography on the internet, particularly on the dark web, means that millions of porn images and footage are being viewed every day.
Hypnotherapy has proved successful in helping people overcome their porn addiction
Men are the most affected by this need to constantly view pornographic images and footage. While there are women experiencing this need too, the evidence clearly shows that it mainly affects men and adolescent boys from 13 to 21 years old.
I have many years’ experience as a sexologist, sex therapist, researcher and educator and am a member of the Australian Society of Sex Educators, Researchers and Therapists (ASSERT) NSW. I have extensive experience in working with addiction, teaching addiction recovery training to therapists, am a member of the Australian Hypnotherapists Association and registered Mental Health Practitioner with the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA).
What is your digital footprint beginning to look like?
In an era of ever increasing digitalisation where people become more isolated, devoid of rewarding social contact, many people are turning to porn for sexual stimulation and satisfaction. Young people are exposed to porn at younger ages through unmonitored internet access that leads them to see stimulation with porn as the norm, rather than having meaningful relationships. Some young male teenagers report accessing porn and masturbating up to 15 times a day, leading to severe isolation, poor social skills and depression.
What you might not know is but even on the dark web your digital footprint is traceable. All your key stokes coordinated with your searches, time on line, emails, social media, texts, viber, phone calls and the texts are all recorded by some agency or company somewhere who is gathering information about you.
Information is also being swoped, sold or surrender to a government departments. There is no longer any digital privacy so you need to be clean on the net and electronically, especially when it comes to accessing sexual content.
People with fetishes can gain easy access to stimulation on the internet, some of which may be legal and some that is not.
The constant, ever-increasing exposure reinforces itself and you can find yourself with a perceived unbreakable addiction.
When the porn is illegal you run the risk of prosecution, gaining a criminal record and being put on a sex offenders’ register for life. This can cause problems with your family, and your partner may seek separation and then initiate divorce.
Many clinicians offer people in this situation medications to try and reduce the addictive urges but this rarely works.
The behaviour has become engrained in the neural pathways in your brain and become automatic, out of your conscious and moral control.
What if something is physically wrong with me?
Since I am also a naturopath, I take a full medical history and consider whether there may be any physical elements to your situation. If suspect there are I may order a blood test to begin with which can tell use a great deal about your heath.
As a mental health professional, I am also observing your behavior, reactions and reported history so I am screening for any mental health problems. These are generally pretty easy for a trained professional to spot and if they do seem to be present, we consider what the way forward may be in order to help you.
The reality however is that for the majority of people with a pornography addiction it is a behavior problem not specifically a physical problem.
If something is adversely affecting your life doesn’t it make sense to change it fast?
Just like any other addiction, however, new neural pathways can be forged in the brain with hypnotherapy initiating changes in thoughts, behaviour and emotions around any particular stimuli.
I offer no moral judgment about your behaviour. I am simply here to help you change it if that is what you want to do.
One of the most important things for you to consider if you think you are suffering from any kind of porn addiction is to get help sooner rather than later. The level of distress you and your family could experience may be avoided by taking early action to change your experiences.
I also teach you to build more rewarding human relationships so you may interact with others in more rewarding and fulfilling way.
Through hypnosis and behavioural re-education, if you want help, changes in thoughts, behaviour and education can be achieved quickly to help you break the addiction. New thoughts and behaviours can be introduced to the unconscious mind to help you have new ways of automatically living your life without the porn addiction.
