Suicide recovery in intersex and trans people is available in my clinic. You don’t have to wait for weeks or months as you can get a fast emergency appointment in the clinic or by Zoom. You may even get health fund rebates.
I know that coming from a marginalised group of people, life at times may prove very stressful for you. You may feel alone and that no one understands you, excluded from society, isolated by members of your family or disadvantaged in the workplace.
It’s a lot to cope with at times and can seem too much to handle.
Suicide may be a tempting way to get away from all these problems and at times it may seem like the only way.
I am a clinical psychotherapist (mental health professional – PACFA), clinical hypnotherapist (AHA), sexologist (ASSERT), and clinical naturopath (ANPA). I have worked in suicide rescue for intersex and trans people for 50 years and will help you.
What’s happening with you?
Are you from a sex and/or gender diverse group and feeling suicidal?
Have you already attempted suicide?
Are you obsessed with thoughts of suicide?
It doesn’t matter where you are on the suicide spectrum – whether you have occasional thoughts, you think about suicide all the time, something has tipped you over the edge or you have already attempted suicide – you can be helped to restore your will to live and create a good life.

How do you identify your sex and gender?
Sex and/or gender diverse (SGD) groups of people are made up from many differing groups including people who are intersex, transexed, transsexual, transgendered, androgynous, without sex and gender identity, crossdressers and people with sex and gender culturally specific differences.
If you are from an SGD group, don’t know where to turn, feeling suicidal and your situation seems hopeless, you’ve come to the right place.
As an intersex and trans woman and mental health professional, I have worked with suicide rescue on three different continents over the years in many settings.
How you identify is your business and completely respected. Helping you get over suicidal thoughts is mine and I will help you.
Are you involved with drugs and alcohol addiction?
Many people from SGD groups, due to minority stress, become vulnerable to addictions, believing it helps them cope. This tends to make your situation worse because your brain is not working correctly.
If this is you, I help you kick the addiction. See the drugs and alcohol page for details.
Remember, you live in your body and your mind works well when your body is working well.
All the research indicates addiction increases the risk of suicidal thoughts.
Are you experiencing mental health issues?
Mental health issues can increase the risk of suicide.
Anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder are all common in SGD groups due to minority stress.
I will review your mental health issues, ask for tests and make recommendations and referrals when appropriate.
You are a whole person so everything works together and we need to get your progress going in the right direction.
You are not alone
How do I know…?
I have a genetic variation that means my body does not recognise androgens well so I did not properly develop.
In 1966, knowing I was different at 11 years old, I tried to transition. Just imagine for one moment the historical context of what I tried to do and how all the odds seemed impossible.
Professionals and family were against it, particularly my mother who refused to accept the facts and hide the medical information from my family. Because everyone was against it, I became a suicidal teenager more than once.
But I found help and kindness from a group of people that pulled me through and I created an amazing life. So, in 1973 I got involved in SGD suicide rescue and still am today.
In those days I could not be public in my work…today my work is on the public stage.
Finding the light in your darkest hour
Millions of people from SGD communities have had suicidal thoughts. You are not alone. Some studies report up to 70% of our community.
And millions of people from SGD groups with the right help and support have recovered and gone on to live good lives.
It may have seemed as if there is no way forward for you and suicide is the best option. But things can change when you get help changing your mindset.
Even in the bleakest hour, with help you can find a way forward.
Do not let your crisis define you.
