Do you starve yourself all day, then blow out at night?
Are you a secret eater who hoards food and eats as much as you can away from other people?
Once you start eating, do you find you cannot stop?
Are you putting on a huge amount of weight because you cannot stop eating and need help with hypnotherapy?
Many people experience binge eating patterns that they feel are out of their control.
Hypnotherapy can help you find a better way of eating where you can have control over your eating and feel comfortable with your eating patterns.
Many people may go through periods in their lives when they become binge eaters and find their eating has got out of control.
You may become embarrassed to disclose this to other people in case you are accused of being greedy and gluttonous, but binge eating is a genuine eating disorder.
There are many reasons for binge eating, including physical changes in the body. Our bodies change throughout the whole of our lives. We experience changes in hormone levels, brain activity and the way the adrenal gland is modulating and balancing our desires to eat and regulating our energy levels.
As a naturopath I also consider the function of your body during the first consultation to see if there are any signs of physical causes for the binge eating.

Do you starve yourself all day, then blow out at night?
This is important because for some people binge eating is caused by a physical disorder that raises ghrelin, the hunger hormone, and down-regulates leptin, the hormone that tells your brain you have eaten enough.
Stress is one of the major disrupters of hormonal levels, including ghrelin, leptin, serotonin, endorphins, cortisol, DHEA and insulin. Your normal hormone levels become so out of balance that it dramatically distorts your eating patterns.
You may not understand, think, believe or insist you are not stressed; however, all binge eating is driven by stress response.
It is not constant hunger but intermittent overeating to supplement an emotional void inside. It may have worked temporarily the first time you did it but has not done so since and has become a habit that never gives you satisfaction.
Perhaps you are under psychological stress at home, work or due to unforeseen circumstances.
This can lead to all sorts of unusual behaviours emerging, including the desire to suddenly eat massive amounts of food all in one sitting.
Maybe you have become an emotional eater and are trying to push down emotions that you feel you are unable able to deal with at this particular time of your life by continually eating, even when you are full and in discomfort.
Perhaps that pattern has been going on for a while now and become a habit that you have been unable to break.
As well as being a hypnotherapist who has dealt with many people suffering eating disorders, I also practise nutritional medicine, so during treatment we will also be looking at what you eat as well how much.
This is very important because if you are eating poor-quality food, your adipose cells fail to produce enough leptin, so your brain does not get the message you are full and you keep on eating.
The good news is that hypnotherapy can help regulate your hormone levels, hunger, eating patterns and emotions around eating so you have control over healthy eating that makes you feel good and to make the right eating choices.
Are you ready to fall in love with eating in a peaceful and rewarding way again through hypnotherapy?
The good news is that hypnosis, along with a good diet plan, dealing with any undue stress or outstanding emotional issues, can help you gain control and return to a normal eating pattern.
Also, hypnotherapy can help program your mind so you want to eat smaller amounts more often, which is what healthy people do each day.
I work with you in very a systematic way so everything is broken down into small chunks so you can understand each part of the process and it is manageable. You will be carrying on treatment at home to make it more efficient and effective.
Hypnosis delivers suggestions deep into your unconscious mind where your automatic behavioural processes are operated which means behaviour can change fast. This is what makes hypnotherapy different and highly effective, so much so that I seldom see patients for long.
In therapy, we are changing the way your body, mind and emotions work so you lead a more balanced life. Eating, after all, is one of the great pleasures of life which you can enjoy when you are eating the right food at the right time in the right way.
