Have you ever wondered, when things are not going well for you, if you could make a better life?
I know I have. Things don’t go well all the time in life and we all have difficult times – that’s just life. Things have not always gone well for me at times because, like everyone else, I’m simply human. Some of that might have been the result of something I did or did not do and sometimes it was due to circumstances beyond my control.
Every day in my clinic I see people who are seeking to overcome their difficulties and have a better life.
It may be that they are trying to overcome a phobia, deception by a partner or trying to get their careers to go in a good direction.
They are seeking help to have a better life and they have taken the biggest step, which is deciding to do something.
Not everyone, however, gets to that step easily. Some people suffer their problems for weeks, month, years or even decades before they take the step to change what is happening.
Maybe they have not been able to voice what they think would be a better life or perhaps they were afraid that that change might be even worse than what they had been experiencing.
So I’m going to tell you what is one of life’s greatest secrets, one that you often do not really learn until later in life:
You can change your reality and can do and be more than you are.
The funny thing is though that when someone tells you that when you are 20 years old you probably won’t believe them.
Maybe you are limited in life by the beliefs that you are not as intelligent, strong and resourceful as you really are.
Many of the communications you receive in your childhood are about keeping you under control and limiting your growth as a person. Like: ‘Stay off the grass’, ‘Be quiet in the library’, ‘Don’t contradict grown ups’ and ‘Don’t upset the status quo’.
The thing about the status quo, however, is that if it is not working for you – why bother maintaining it? Why not do everything you can to create a different reality? And most of all if you are just waiting for things to get better by chance – will they? Really?
If you want a better life than the one you are currently living, you must take action to change things.
It is time to be strident, proactive and initiate change.
I cannot tell you what a different life will be for you, only you can determine that, but one thing for sure is that you are the only person that can initiate that change.
So, what to do:
- Identify your problem very clearly and drill down really seriously so you can write it down succinctly in one sentence.
- Create your vision of what your better life will be, how will it look, sound and feel.
- Work out what you need to do to make that happen and what strategies you need to execute.
- Find people who can help you and teach you what you need to know.
- Be prepared to invest your time and money in making those changes happen.
- Nothing is for free and no one owes you anything so be prepared to make the changes for yourself.
- Start your journey now – waste no time and start to take action.
- And when you make a better life, make sure you give back to others because success shared doubles the satisfaction.
