I help people avoid mortgage stress. According to research there are fewer stressful experiences than buying or changing homes.
In today’s market everyone won’t be able to afford to buy their own home. With ever rising property prices and interest rate fluctuation, paying off the loan can also be stressful.
Why should you buy a home?
- It’s somewhere for you and your family to live.
- It’s a good investment if you buy it right.
- You won’t have to move if the landlord wants to live there or sell it.
- If you have children, it can be a settled place to bring them up.
- You get a say in the state of your home.
My grandfather bought a house in in 1961 for 90 British pounds in a rural town. It’s now worth 60,000 pounds. One of the first houses I bought, and I have bought a lot, is now worth 20 times what I paid for it.
Home is where your heart is. You can come home, shut your front door and have peace away from the world.
To reduce the stress of buying
- Never take out a mortgage that is more than you can afford
- Get a broker to get you the best mortgage rates
- Watch the market to see where interest rates are going
- Switch mortgages for a better rate if your lender is charging you a very high rate
- Your first consideration is that it is going to be your home where you can be safe and comfortable
- Always have a survey so you know what you are buying
- Talk to the locals and neighbours to get background information on the area and property
- Be prepared to work hard to pay off the loan, nothing in life is free
- If you get into trouble and can’t pay your mortgage, talk to your lender straight away
- Keep a good cash reserve in case of emergencies because you never know what is going to happen in life
Make sensible location choices
If you can’t afford a particular area, don’t be a snob, and look for somewhere cheaper. Where you live is not the biggest factor in your happiness but how you live always is.
In taking on a mortgage and paying it off, make sure you will have some time in your week to pay special attention to your family and friends.
Be near to facilities that you may need like schools, supermarkets and access to social events.
When mortgage stress takes hold
I see a lot of people in my practice for hypnotherapy for mortgage stress. Maybe you are in too deep and can’t make your payments. Maybe you are paying your mortgage out of your cash reserves, leaving your savings depleted, which can cause you major emotional stress and anxiety.
Stress is lethal causing heart disease, immunological breakdown, weight issues, explosive anger, anxiety, and major depression, break-ups, and divorce. It makes you old long before your time.
My job is to help you make the right decisions at the right time to live the very best life you can now.
